Me

I was born in Wagga Wagga and my family lived in Tumbarumba. We moved to Orange when I was three years old. Thus, I grew up in the country and have always been interested in the land around me.

I spent one year in Melbourne and then travelled to Europe the following year. I really enjoyed Prague and loved the way all the buildings had decorations in their design. Whilst travelling through Europe I visited many, many galleries and liked being able to see the work of so many different artists in them all.

I returned to Sydney and completed my Fine Arts Degree at University.

I would describe my style of painting as abstract, in particular imaging landscapes and the land.

I spent two weeks in Australia's arid zone north of Broken Hill and much of my inspiration and work evolved from this time in the landscape. The works in my second exhibition depict the rocks and landscape of this area.

I try to capture the essence of Australia's unique landscapes in my paintings and I also use materials found within the land in my works. I like to use sand and ochre and other materials to build up texture in the works and to hint at the land that they came from. It is my intention to continue working in this manner after leaving university. To find an area of the landscape that interests me, immerse myself in that place and paint from my experiences whilst there.
